Mango's Story
Mango wobbles. This is the first thing anyone notices about him. Cerebellar hypoplasia means the part of his brain that controls coordination didn't fully develop before birth — likely due to his mother contracting panleukopenia while pregnant. He walks like he's on a ship in rough seas, and when he gets excited, his head trembles.
None of this bothers Mango.
Mango is the enthusiastic greeter of the sanctuary. He wobbles to the door when visitors arrive. He wobbles toward food with absolute determination. He wobbles himself up onto the low shelving we built specifically for him (no heights — safety first), and he wobbles into your lap with the focused intention of a very small, very orange linebacker.
CH cats cannot be adopted into homes with stairs or high furniture they might fall from. They need adapted environments and caregivers who understand that wobbling is just how they do it. Here, Mango has a perfectly adapted space and an adoring audience for his daily antics. He does not know he is disabled. He is simply Mango.
