Theo's Story

Theo was hit by a car at approximately one year old. His pelvis was shattered. The vet who performed the emergency surgery said he had maybe a 40% chance of walking again. That vet does not know Theo.

The pelvic fracture healed, but left him with megacolon — a nerve-damaged colon that doesn't contract properly, leading to severe chronic constipation that requires active management. He also has recurrent UTIs related to the pelvic injury's effect on his urinary tract.

All of this is managed. All of it.

Theo himself is a three-year-old tuxedo cat with a permanent offended expression and approximately 400% more personality than is reasonable. He steals socks. He has knocked the water bowl over deliberately no fewer than twelve times. He once removed a bandage from his own tail and paraded it around the sanctuary like a trophy.

He is on a high-fiber diet, receives lactulose twice daily, and gets a warm-water enema at the vet every six to eight weeks when needed. He accepts all of this with the grudging tolerance of someone who knows they're being well looked after.
